SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Our genetic counsellors offer professional guidance on discussing and planning for the future family. They offer information about genetic disorders and discuss options for testing and managing these conditions. They also provide guidance on the risks that may be present for family members and the next generation and how these can be managed.

  • Have you or a family member been diagnosed or is suspected to have a genetic condition or disorder?
  • Are your pregnancy screening tests or ultrasonogram indicative of a possible anomaly?
  • Is there a family history of cancer?
  • Are you or your spouse related by blood(consanguineous)?
  • Do you have a genetic report which you are not able to understand?

If the answer is ‘Yes” to any of the above questions, our genetic counsellors are available to provide professional guidance and support to help you make informed decisions about your healthcare.

What should you be ready with before a consultation?? Before a genetic counselling consultation, it may be helpful to have information about the health history of your family, including upto three generations. If the consultation is for yourself or a family member (such as a minor), It may be helpful to share with us any relevant medical records or laboratory results available prior to the consultation.
